The Gadget show test 3 sports GPS to find the best. Satmap Active 10 VS Garmin Colorado 300 VS Magellan eXplorist 600.
i have the misfortune to own a Colorado 300……total crap
The Colorado is useless. I was lucky enough to get my Garmin dealer to give me an Oregon in exchange of the Colorado. The Oregon line is brilliant and would probably have won this test?
Welcome into the world of electronics old timer. The Colorade is useless but the User too.
I Think that the problem of the Garmin was not really the Gadget, but the USER!!!
Very cool.
I am very happy with my Garmin Oregon 300
a gps should be able to work if its not level
as you note the GPSr works fine in any orientation, though the antenna is more accurate in one orientation than another. It is the magnetic compass that needs to be level. So if you are on the screen following a bearing it won’t work unless you hold it pretty close to the screen being horizontal. any of the other views are fine in any orientation.
look at the clip at 4:19, it says on the screen to “hold level”. If he had lifted the gps up with the sceen off level while facing the wrong direction the mag compass wouldn’t update until he levels it out again
Having owned 3 different Garmins I am not surprised that he has such problems with it. All 3 have been badly thought through and for me, enough is enough. Also, you can’t beat OS, so without it the other two will never compare.
